September 22 — Annabel’s, London’s best known private members’ club famous for its tastefully unique interior and exclusive clientele, hosted its glitziest gala to date, raising awareness and funds to fight against deforestation in the Amazon. Following the inaugural Annabel’s for the Amazon event in September 2021, The Caring Family Foundation has pledged to plant one million trees by end of this year — three months ahead of its initial plan.
A glamorous affair with a dress code stating “black tie elevated with Amazon colors”, the night also marks the beginning of the first post-pandemic social season in the busy capital, with Richard and Patricia Caring, Camille Charriere and Dennis Nyero seen supporting the occasion and driving the charitable force amongst the Club’s members, celebrities, philanthropists, and key environmentalists. In partnership with The Lost Explorer Mezcal, Annabel’s also released 1,000 exclusive, limited edition gift boxes of mezcal bottles, raising considerable funds towards The Foundation’s rainforest commitment. Three bespoke “Amazon Mezcal Cocktails” have also been created using The Lost Explorer Mezcal, with each drink sold helping plant an additional 2.5 trees.

Patricia Caring, co-executive chairwoman of The Birley Clubs and co-founder of The Caring Family Foundation comments on Annabel’s month-long initiative: “The destruction of the Amazon rainforest affects every single one of us. It is an ecosystem upon which we all rely which is why The Caring Family Foundation is proud to be working with SOS Amazonia to fight back through a tree planting programme that will provide sustainable support for local communities and their economies.”

Annabel’s captivating façades and interiors are designed with sustainability and eco-responsibility in mind — all materials used are kept and recycled where possible. Tatiana Kharchylave, Creative Director of the Birley Clubs and mastermind behind all the fine details of the Annabel’s for the Amazon decorations, says: “The façades are created for everyone to enjoy. From our Members to passers-by and children, I love seeing people’s interaction and creativity with the photos they take and share on social media.”
Contemporary artist Dominic Harris has also designed and created a one-of-kind digital installation for the Club, named “UNSEEN.”

An interactive portrait of undiscovered butterfly species, UNSEEN incorporates digitally incredible specimens that have never been witnessed or documented by humans. The art installation pays homage to not just the “unseen” butterflies, but also those species that disappeared before they are discovered, drawing emphasis to the impact of deforestation and environmental changes that destroy the ecological landscape that is home to many creatures. Harris’ work also emanates a sense of positivity, with the artist’s typical enduring optimism, that some of the fabricated butterflies may well be out there awaiting discovery in rainforests such as the Amazon.
The writer has been informed that nothing the importance of Amazon conservation efforts and the effect that its rapid destruction is having on the global ecosystem, Annabel’s and The Caring Family Foundation aim to plant a further one million trees in addition to the million trees that will be planted by the end of this year.
You can purchase Annabel’s x The Lost Explorer Mezcal gift boxes at Selfridges, Hedonism Wines and The Whisky Shop for £120, with proceeds of each box help planting 35 trees.
