Another Dollar General store was proposed in Chestnuthill Township.
Supervisors heard the request at a workshop session this week.
The board heard from Tracy Hnatowicz and Benjamin Syput, of PennTex Ventures, who pitched the concept of a Dollar General on property at Silver Valley Road and Route 209.
Township manager Dave Albright said it was merely an informational session.
“There was just some discussion about the layout of the site, and just a preliminary sketch of what they were thinking of,” Albright said. “There was discussion about traffic; they were looking to access off Silver Valley Road.”
Sewage was also discussed. “A couple things came out of that; one was they had asked if they could do a holding tank instead of an on-lot sewage system. They would need to do an on-lot sewage system. When it came to the traffic issues, their trips per day would trigger a traffic study that would need to be done.”
Albright added that they had asked the township’s engineer what the thoughts were as far as the impacts to 209, and what PennDOT’s thoughts would be in terms of the amount of traffic generated at 209 and Silver Valley Road.
“Our engineer had said that he thought that PennDOT would look for a left-hand turn there,” he said. “That kind of put a damper on their enthusiasm. We want to see the buildings in the front, parking on the side and rear for developments within the township.”
Albright stressed that the matter is merely in the discussion phase.
“They haven’t submitted any plans to us,” he said. “It was just a work session, which was basically a discussion for some of the bigger items for a development project like that.”
