Food City, Abingdon, Va., is expanding its partnership with DoorDash in 117 stores in the following five states: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia.
“Food City is committed to providing our loyal customers with the best products and services possible,” said Food City President and CEO Steven C. Smith. “Our e-commerce initiatives have really flourished throughout the pandemic, and we’re excited to have the opportunity to expand our partnership with DoorDash to include on-demand delivery of a number of exciting new categories.”
DoorDash said in a statement on Tuesday that its partnership with Food City now offers on-demand delivery from grocery items, everyday essentials, fresh foods, and floral arrangements at the participating locations.
“This partnership provides our Food City shoppers with the flexibility to continue to receive the top-quality products they enjoy when shopping in person, with the added convenience of on-demand delivery to their doorstep. Customers may choose to do their entire grocery shopping online or simply have items delivered directly to their home,” said Kevin Stafford, Food City VP of marketing.
In other news, the supermarket retailer said it will be launching its line of Curt’s Ace Hardware stores later this summer.
“We look forward to bringing Curt’s Ace Hardware store locations to the communities where we know there is a need,” says Steven Smith, Food City president and CEO, in a statement. “Given our vast merchandising and marketing experience, I’m confident that our team will do an excellent job managing and operating these locations.”
Food City is evaluating locations in Abingdon, Bristol, Piney Flats, Erwin and Elizabethton, in addition to Mize Farm & Garden Supply Co. in Gray, Tenn., which Food City recently purchased.
Food City parent K-VA-T Food Stores, which recently broke ground on a new store in Alcoa, Tenn., operates 138 retail outlets in five Southeast states.
