Logistics startup Flexport has added another former Amazon executive to its leadership.
Parisa Sadrzadeh, a former vice president in the worldwide delivery service partner program at Amazon, said on LinkedIn Monday that she was starting her first day at Flexport’s Bellevue office as a senior vice president. She’s at least the fifth former Amazon employee to join the San Francisco-based startup this year.
“Even though it feels weird to be the newbie, all of the Flexporters I’ve met have been so welcoming, and it’s awesome to see the Flexport Bellevue office in action,” she said.
Sadrzadeh came from Amazon’s worldwide (retail) division, the same division that longtime Amazon employee and executive Dave Clark led until his departure this summer. Clark joined Flexport in September as its co-CEO.
This year, Flexport has also hired two vice presidents and one senior vice president directly from Amazon, all of whom worked in the company’s retail division, according to LinkedIn profiles.
It doesn’t stop there. Over the past two years, Flexport has at least 16 executives at the vice president level and above who have Amazon on their resume. Of those 16, nine came directly from Amazon.
They include three of the seven members of Flexport’s C-suite. In addition to Clark, Chief Financial Officer Kenny Wagers and Chief People Officer Darcie Henry are former Amazon executives. Henry was a vice president of human resources who left in 2021 for Snap Inc. after 23 years at Amazon.
Clark told Reuters in November that Flexport was on a companywide hiring spree even as larger tech companies were looking to get hundreds if not thousands of employees off of payrolls. He said the company was looking to add about 400 engineers by next year, doubling its technical team.
The company has 54 roles open in Bellevue, according to its job listings. It also has over 200 employees based in the Seattle area, according to LinkedIn.
This winter, PSBJ will host its annual Health Care Leadership Awards, a celebration of the outstanding leaders in health care around the Puget Sound area.
PSBJ’s Family Business Awards serves as a high-level resource for family-run companies and shines a bright light on the region’s most innovative and fast-growing family businesses.
