STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Black Friday deals have been announced, and some of the hottest sales are happening online. So which stores are offering the deepest discounts? Dealnews.com, a website dedicated to helping consumers find legitimate online savings, just released a breakdown of this year’s best Black Friday deals, highlighting six stores that are bringing the markdowns.
Need a television, business suit or Apple watch? You might want to browse these six retailers on Black Friday:
1. Amazon
According to Julie Ramhold, a consumer analyst with DealNews.com, the online retailer can be a source of hidden gems. The very best savings can be found among Amazon’s Lightning Deals, which are offers that pop up on a daily basis and increase in quantity during the Black Friday season. But you have to be a Prime member to cash in on them, and you’ll need the time and energy to track them — because they move fast, Ramhold noted.
Hottest deals: Dealnews predicted that Fire tablets could be up to 50% off this year, while select Fire TV Sticks could cost as little as $18. Echo devices? You could find previous generations bundled with smart lights or plugs for around $20, and the newest Echo speaker could drop to $50 for Black Friday. Amazon’s lineup of Alexa electronics could also see discounts reaching up to 50% off.
2. Best Buy
DealNews chose Best Buy as a top Black Friday contender because the retailer has a holiday rep for offering tons of savings on TVs and gadgets, especially items from Apple — which aren’t discounted often.
Hottest deals: “Last year, Best Buy cut up to $1,000 off select Apple products in mid-November,” Ramhold said, detailing savings on the latest iPhones, MacBooks and Apple Watches: $900 off the then-new iPhone 13 Pro, $500 off MacBook Pro computers, and $150 off select iPad Pro models. The retailer also offered prices as low as $140 on 39-inch television sets, and big-screen models from LG saw impressive discounts as well.
No guarantee that the same items will be discounted again this year, but it’s worth watching.
3. eBay
If you’re not bothered by refurbished or open-box electronics, eBay has some impressive Black Friday online deals. DealNews suggested looking into the site’s “Brand Outlet,” an under-the-radar section where you can shop for great deals on products directly from Adidas, Louis Vuitton, Dyson, Bose, KitchenAid and more. Last year, brands like Dyson, ASICS, Herman Miller and Milwaukee Tool offered big deals, and many certified refurbished items from Acer and Bosch were featured there as well.
Hottest deals: Ramhold said one of the key offers to watch for on eBay is a coupon that you can use across the site. Last year, eBay took 20% off via a code, which also provided free shipping. A 2021 deal exclusive to the Brand Outlet took up to 80% off apparel, computers, tools and watches, and included brands such as Louis Vuitton, Rolex, Cartier, Lenovo and Bissell.
4. Kohl’s
Kohl’s has been increasing its digital presence over the past several years, offering steep discounts on home items, all of which allow shoppers to earn that coveted Kohl’s Cash.
Hottest deals: Last year, three Toastmaster appliances were sold for $6 total, if shoppers used coupon codes and mail-in rebates. Many home decor items had single-digit prices too, and some hoodies and boots sold for less than $20.
5. Macy’s
This store’s doorbuster sales are all available online — a rarity in the Black Friday retail business.
Hottest deals: Small kitchen appliances are the big draw here. Last year, deals included small appliances from brands like Hamilton Beach and Bella for $8 to $10 each. And if you need a suit, you may want to browse the men’s section: Last year designer brands like Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and DKNY were discounted between 50% and 80%. According to DealNews, pillows, reversible sherpa throws and eight-piece comforter sets might also be slashed in 2022.
6. Target
During the 2021 Black Friday season, Target.com offered plenty of exclusive deals. Dealnews reported that there’s more in store for 2022.
Hottest deals: “Expect Target Black Friday deals to include things like DC action figures for $4, Disney dolls for $5, and up to 50% off toys in general,” the site noted. “The retailer will also likely have ‘buy two, get a third free’ promotions that apply to Nerf toys, as well as other games, activities, books and movies.” Category discounts should be big, too, the site said. Deals could take up to 40% off bed and bath, 30% off ugly holiday apparel, up to 40% off Christmas trees and 10% off Target gift cards.
